The Firm

Who Is Catalyst Sport Ventures?

CSV is a global sports investment firm focused on undervalued sports teams and emerging sports startups. Founded and led by Will Freeman, an experienced technology executive and serial entrepreneur with M&A experience.

🏟️
Multi-Investment Portfolio
We build a diversified portfolio of minority stakes across football clubs and sports businesses in key markets, reducing single-asset risk while targeting attractive entry valuations.
🤝
Minority Ownership with Real Rights
CSV takes minority stakes with meaningful governance rights at every club in the portfolio.
🚀
Sports Startup Pipeline
Beyond clubs, we invest in emerging sports-related businesses raising capital, capturing the commercial ecosystem that surrounds football at every level of the pyramid.
🌍
Global Reach, Surgical Entry
Across the UK and beyond, we target markets where clubs are priced below their true commercial potential, giving us maximum upside from day one of ownership.
The Investment Case

Lower-Tier Football Can Be A Smart Investment

Premier League clubs can sell for billions, meanwhile lower-tier clubs sell for significantly less with untapped upside.

Entry Valuation Advantage
Lower Multiples
Valuation multiples in the lower divisions of football are a fraction of what top-flight clubs command, giving investors maximum upside relative to entry price
Top-Flight Debt Burden
Less Debt
A majority of clubs in the Premier League and higher divisions carry significant debt, while lower-tier clubs operate with far leaner, more sustainable financial structures
Profitability Profile
More Profitable
Lower league clubs are often more profitable even though the top-line figure may be less flashy
Exit Pathways

Two Clear Routes to Liquidity

CSV's investment model is built with an exit strategy in mind from day one.

🏷️
One-Off Strategic Divestment
Sell individual clubs that have appreciated in value

As individual clubs in the CSV portfolio appreciate in value they become attractive acquisition targets for buyers. There is a chance we explore one-off divestments, especially due to today's regulatory landscape.

🏢
Portfolio Merger with Larger Group
Sell the entire portfolio to a larger group

The more likely liquidity event will be selling the entire portfolio to a larger holding group, which would be very desirable to those looking to expand into the lower-middle market sports M&A space.

Capital is allocated with discipline. The majority goes directly into investments, acquiring club stakes and following on into the portfolio. The remainder covers the operational infrastructure needed to source, diligence, and support investments at scale.
